Animal lovers in Gloucestershire urged to keep pets warm
As temperatures remain low the RSPCA are urging people to follow their advise to keep animals safe.
The animal charity are asking pet owners to keep a close eye on outdoor animals like rabbits and guinea pigs.
Cat and dog owners are being reminded to give them a warm place to sleep. The charity said dogs should not be kept outside in any weather.
They also said wildlife may also need extra help in the cold weather. People can leave extra food out for animals and should make sure water bowls are not frozen.
Esme Wheeler, dog expert from the charity, said: "It's really important we're careful of antifreeze and rock salt as these can be poisonous for animals.
"If you have an elderly dog or a dog with a short coat you should put a dog coat on them when they go outside so they can keep nice and warm.
"If you have a fish pond make sure you're checking everyday that the surface isn't entirely frozen because if it is poisonous gases can build up."
