People in the South West recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours list

57 people across the region have been recognised for their exceptional achievements or contributions to service

People across the the South West of England have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list this year.

A total of 57 people have received special honours from her majesty from across the region.

The list had been agreed before the pandemic took hold in the UK but the publication was postponed so it could include those who played crucial roles during the first few months of the crisis.

Those who've been recognised for going above and beyond during the pandemic in the South West include Bristol-based musician Ben England for keeping people singing during lockdown with his Homechoir project, with others being recognised for their contribution to their work, like Chief Fire Officer Lee Howell from Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

They'll all be joining some more well-known household names, including TV presenter Lorraine Kelly and Professor Brian Cox who are both receiving CBE's - as well as national treasure Mary Berry who's being made a Dame.

Bristol
