The drop-in event, which will be held between 4pm and 7pm at Brockworth Community Centre, will give people a chance to view the proposed designs for the school before plans are finalised and a planning application is submitted.

Subject to planning approval it is proposed the school will open in 2022 on Mill Lane, Brockworth, providing 75 places for young people aged 11-16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. While focusing on SEMH needs, the school will also support children with autism and speech, language and communication needs.

Cllr Patrick Molyneux, cabinet member for education, economy and skills, said: “We’re committed to making sure all children get the education they deserve, which is why we’re investing over £100 million into our county’s schools. There is strong support for increasing the special educational needs provision in the county and this school will provide much-needed places for local children.”

The designs will also be available on www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/new-special-school from 8 September.
