Murder investigation launched after Forest of Dean stabbing

Gloucestershire Police have revealed five people have been arrested in connection with the incident in Coleford

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in Coleford overnight.

Police have launched the investigation following the incident in the Forest of Dean, with emergency services called to Oakfields at around 12:30am this morning (14 June) with a report of a stabbing.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man suffered stab wounds and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

Four men and one woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody following the incident, in which it's believed all involved were known to each other.

There will be a heightened police presence in Coleford over the coming days, and officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting reassurance patrols and will be available to speak to anybody if they have any concerns.

The Major Crime Investigation Team is in the early stages of an investigation and officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The man's next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
