Murder investigation after woman dies in Chipping Campden

A man, who police believe knew the victim, has been arrested

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in the village of Chipping Campden overnight (January 6).

Gloucestershire Police say they were first called to High Street at around 12:10am and found a woman in her 80s with head injuries; she did not survive.

Her next of kind and the coroner have been told.

"The Major Crime Investigation Team is in the early stages of an investigation and officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to make contact with police," a statement from Gloucestershire Police reads.

"Those involved in the incident are believed to be known to each other and officers are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation at this time."
