Gloucestershire in store for more snow and ice as Met Office issues weather warning

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Gloucestershire and much of the South West.

After heavy snowfall over the festive period, forecasters predict more snow across the county as temperatures plummet once again.

The Met Office has warned icy conditions are expected from 5pm today (7 January) until midnight on Friday.

Around 1-2cm of snowfall is expected across the county in places like Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Stroud, Tetbury and Cirencester from midday tomorrow.

Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are being told to take extra care and some rail and bus services could be disrupted as a result.

Gloucestershire Highways say temperatures are staying close to zero through to tomorrow with snow and ice forecast tomorrow morning.

Its begin several gritting runs this afternoon and are urging people to stay warm, stay safe and drive with care.

The warning also covers most areas of England and the South West including Bristol and Somerset.
