Men arrested after serious assault in Gloucester

Officers say a scene guard is in place following the incident yesterday evening (7 April)

Gloucestershire Police have arrested two men in connection with a serious assault near the Gloucester Docks.

They say the incident happened on Southgate Street at 7pm on April 7th.

In a statement, the force said: "A scene guard is currently in place following a serious assault on Southgate Street in Gloucester.

"Police were called shortly after 7pm yesterday (Sunday 7 April) with a report that a man had been punched sustaining serious head injuries. He was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment where he remains today in a serious condition.

"Two men, aged 26 and 24, and both from Gloucester, have been arrested in connection with the incident. They remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

"The area was busy at the time of the incident and officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity or who has dashcam footage which they believe to be relevant.

"Anybody with information or who saw what happened is asked to complete the following online form quoting incident 339 of 7 April."
