A man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in the centre of Gloucester this afternoon (4 April).

Gloucestershire Police say they were called to Southgate Street at around 2:30pm and a 31-year-old man has been arrested.

The victim, also in his 30s, has been taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with a wound to his shoulder.

A knife has been recovered from the scene and officers say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

The stabbing comes just over a month since the Knife Angel was in residency outside Gloucester Cathedral.

Anyone who witnessed what happened or has information about those involved is asked to call the police on 101 and quote incident 252 of 4 April.
