Man charged with murder after woman's body found in Stroud flat

Officers have identified the victim as Emma Potter

A man's appeared in court charged with murder after the body of a woman was found in Stroud.

33 year-old Joe Rankin, of Langtoft Road in Stroud, was remanded in custody and is due back in court on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Emma Potter, who was found dead by officers at her home in Chapel Street at around 4.15pm on Friday 4 November.

The death was initially treated as being unexplained, but the results of a post-mortem examination led to a murder investigation being opened.

Emma's body is believed to have been undiscovered for some time.

The Major Crime Investigation Team is still keen to hear from anyone who has any relevant information which could assist, in particular anyone who knew Emma.
