Three men have been arrested after a man was reportedly assaulted with a bat in Stonehouse.

It happened on Woodcock Lane at around 9.50pm on Saturday evening - the victim was taken to hospital.

The men, aged 19, 20 and 41 were arrested on suspicion of assault and have been released on bail.

The 19 and 20 year-olds were also arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug.

It was alleged that a group got out of a car and the victim, a male on a bike, was attacked with a bat.

The car was described as an old white/silver saloon type vehicle with roof bars.

The victim is described as being a white man on a blue bike wearing a white t-shirt, grey shorts and had a shaven head.

He was reportedly attacked by a black man, described as being short in height and topless.

Two further men got out of the vehicle along with two women who were then shouting at the men to stop.

The group then drove off up Woodcock Lane in the direction of Gloucester Road.

A woman asked passing drivers for help. Police would like to speak to those drivers as they may have dashcam footage or vital information that could assist the investigation.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101.
