Murder investigation opened after serious incident declared in Tredworth

A man has been arrested on suspicion of a woman's murder in Tredworth, Gloucester, in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road at around 1.45am following a report of a serious assault.

Emergency services attended and a woman was found with suspected stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Police believe the man and woman were known to each other and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.

Cordons are in place at the scene and police say they will maintain a presence while the investigation continues.
