Emergency services attend car fire on M5 near Tewkesbury

The road was closed for several hours on Thursday night

Part of the M5 was closed on Thursday night (29th February) after a serious collision and car fire near Tewkesbury.

The collision happened between the turning for junction nine at Tewskesbury and junction 11 for Gloucester.

Emergency services were called at 9:07pm and three fire engines were sent to the scene.

There were reports that two men and a women were trapped in their vehicles but they had been released before the services' arrival and were uninjured

One car was 100% damaged by fire .

National Highways South West said: “The M5 is closed in both directions between J11 Cheltenham and J9 Tewkesbury due to a serious collision and car fire. Emergency services are on scene."
