Gloucester based cancer charity, Charlies, are reminding people of the importance of getting cancer symptoms tested.

Their plea follows the news from Buckingham Palace yesterday (5/2) which announced King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer.

Jo Sutherland, the founder of Charlies, said: "Early intervention is key so as soon as you recognise something isn't right you need to get it checked straightaway.

"The earlier that we can identify cancer the earlier treatment can start."

Jo also believes sharing cancer stories is important to inform other people of signs to look out for.

She believes it's important high-profile people share their stories to help raise awareness.

Jo said: "We all know the more information we get out there, the more informed we are. So it would be great if eventually more of King Charles' story is shared."

However, Charlies believes we should also recognise all people battling the disease.

Buckingham Palace have not said what type of cancer the King has been diagnosed with but have said the monarch has postponed public duties.
