The new Monarch has returned to his Gloucestershire home for a private day of reflection.

The Royal Standard at Buckingham Palace has been lowered and replaced with the Union Jack, which signifies that King Charles III is no longer in residence.

It's understood that the King will use today as a day of rest, and plan for the days ahead.

Since the death of Her Majesty The Queen last Thursday (08/09), the King has visited three of the nations within the United Kingdom, and attended to other ceremonial events to honour the life of Her Majesty.

The residence, just outside the village of Tetbury has been the family home of King Charles since the 1980s.
