Cheltenham Town have announced former Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough has been appointed as the new first team assistant manager.

The 53-year-old is the newest addition to manager Darrell Clarke's backroom team.

He takes up the role which has been vacant since the start of the year, following the departure of former assistant Adam Murray.

Speaking upon his arrival Ian said: "I'm pleased to be back in football and I'm pleased to be working for someone like Darrell. I have known him a very long time since my playing days at Mansfield.

"Whenever I've played against Cheltenham there's always been a real good feel about the place, a real community club.

"We're in a great position now and we've got a great chance of getting out of it and looking upwards in the league."

Ian will be in the dugout for the first time at this weekend's home clash with Carlisle United, having been involved in training this week.
