Matt Hancock has thanked people in Gloucester for their extraordinary take-up of the vaccine.

He outlined how the city is leading the way in taking up the opportunity to be vaccinated.

In a video published on social media, the Heath Secretary thanked everyone involved in the vaccination process.

“A massive thank you to everyone involved in the vaccination programme in Gloucester. It has among the highest rates of vaccination in the whole country.

“I know it has been an effort that so many people have been involved in, of course the NHS locally leading the project but also volunteers, the council and Richard Graham.

“I want to say a huge thanks to all those making it happen and to residents across Gloucester who have taken up that opportunity to take up the jab with more enthusiasm than almost anywhere across the country.

“Thank you, we know these vaccines save lives and protect you and your community so well done Gloucester, lets keep it up.”

The uptake was a contributing factor which ensured the country surpassed it’s 15-million target by the middle of February

His comments did not fall on deaf ears, with people across the county sharing their appreciation and members of the Gloucestershire vaccination team delighted with the recognition.
