Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of cooking oil from a restaurant in Cheltenham.

In the early hours of this morning (Friday 23 December) Gloucestershire Constabulary were called to reports of thieves stealing containers from an address on The Promenade.

A vehicle carrying cooking oil was stopped by police on Lansdowne Road. Two men, aged 35 and 43, were then arrested on suspicion of theft and remain in police custody.

Officers are now appealing to restaurateurs to check their oil stock.

Oil containers can be marked with a tag or writing, helping police to identify them if they are stolen and later recovered.
