Police have launched a witness appeal after an ATM machine was broken into in Newent this morning.

Officers were called to Broad Street at approximately 1.40am following a report that power tools had been used by thieves to gain entry to the inside of the ATM and cash was then stolen.

Two men were chased on foot but were able to escape. Enquiries are now being made by police to identify and locate them.

A scene guard was put in place and has since been lifted.
