A 34-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison; after his erratic driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit, culminated in a crash that killed a motorcyclist in the Cotswolds earlier this year.

Yasen Yanev appeared at Gloucester Crown Court yesterday and was also disqualified from driving for at least nine years and was ordered to pay one victim a surcharge of £190.

The incident occurred on June 11 on the A429 High Street in Moreton-in -Marsh and emergency services were called to the scene at 8.30pm after Yanev collided with 54-year-old motorcyclist Mike Molina.

Mr Molina sadly passed away at the scene as a result of his injuries.

As part of the police investigation into the fatal accident over thirty witnesses come forward.

PC Shelley Holloway, the investigating officer from the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said that she was pleased with the conviction as “… not once did Yanev think about the consequences of his actions that evening”.

Yanev could be released from prison after three years for good behaviour if agreed by the parole board that he is eligible to be released at the halfway point.
