Gloucestershire's Members of Parliament have been paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. After the announcement by Buckingham Palace had passed away, Laurence Robertson the MP for Tewkesbury praised her "service to our nation" saying it was "unrivalled, as is the prestige she brought to the UK."

The Member of Parliament for Stroud continued the tributes to HRH Queen Elizabeth's longevity and strength, saying she felt "emotional" and "Her Majesty was a constant strength in an ever changing world."

The tributes of all the Gloucestershire MPs referenced her embodiment of strength and longevity. The MP for the Forest and Dean Mark Harper continued on that theme paying his respects by commending her "life of duty and service".

Her Majesty's leadership throughout her 70 year reign was highly respected, and the Member of Parliament for Gloucester, Rich Graham paid tribute to that aspect of her life. In a tweet he said she set an "extraordinary example" and offered his condolences to the Royal Family.

Tributes also flooded in from other political servants. The Mayor of Cheltenham, Cllr Sandra Holliday stated that everyone's thoughts and prayers at the Cheltenham Brough Council were with the Royal Family.

Alex Chalk, Cheltenham's MP added to the tributes saying, " This is profoundly sad news, and we mourn the loss of an extraordinary and beloved monarch - the strength and stay of our country.

HM the Queen was a model of dignity, service and compassion, and a shining example to millions at home and abroad.

In Cheltenham we mourn her death. As we do so, we offer our thoughts and prayers to King Charles and the wider Royal Family.

May they take comfort from the deep sorrow of a grateful nation and the Commonwealth. And may Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace."
