A month long campaign's underway aiming to encourage people to go cycling across Gloucestershire.

Love to Ride is running Cycle September in the county - to raise awareness of the benefits of getting out and about on your bikes. They say cycling more will boost people's health and allow them to explore areas they've not been to.

The organisation believes that riding a bike has benefits such as improved mental and physical well-being, a healthier planet and more affordable and efficient travel.

Project Manager Katie Brown: "The whole purpose of the challenge is to support and motivate people to ride bikes more often. During Covid it was a really good opportunity for people to go outdoors and connect with nature and connect with other people. We really want people to continue with those behaviours and continue connecting with everyone."

Cycle September has the backing of Gloucestershire County Council.

Cllr. David Gray, cabinet member for environment and planning, said: “Cycling is a great way to help the environment, your fitness and wellbeing. We’re investing heavily in cycling infrastructure to help make it even easier for people to cycle in a safe and confident way. Sign up this September and give it a go.”
