A burst water mane submerged Barnwood road, damaging the surrounding infrastructure.

When the road flooded houses experienced power cuts, and Gloucester Royal Hospital was temporarily affected.

In a statement Severn Trent announced the road will remain closed till the new year.

A spokesperson added, "We’re really thankful for everyone’s continued patience and understanding as our work on Barnwood Road continues.

"We know this is a busy well used road, so it is our absolute priority to get it back open as soon as it’s safe to do so.

“As the pipe that burst was one of our larger pipes, damage has been caused to the road and footpath that need to be repaired and made safe.

"To ensure everyone’s safety Barnwood Road remains closed while we work hard to make these repairs.

Again, we’re incredibly sorry for issues caused and we are doing everything we can to get the road back to normal and opened as soon as we can.”

They went onto say that they are looking into open part of the road to traffic but only if safe to do so.
