The first incident happened on Pippin Close in Abbeymead at around 1pm on Saturday 13th April, with the second on James Grieve Road at around 10.15am on Tuesday 16th April.

A man reportedly approached a woman in the street and began to verbally abuse her. He then allegedly attempted to hit her, but the woman managed to avoid the attack.

The suspect, who is not known to the victim, then walked off in the direction of Lobleys Drive.

The second incident happened on James Grieve Road in Abbeymead at around 10.15am on Tuesday 16 April.

On this occasion the same man approached the same victim from behind and allegedly assaulted her with an unknown item to the face. He reportedly attempted to hit her a second time but the woman was able to run off.

As a result of the second assault, the woman is now awaiting surgery for an injury to her eye.

Officers looking to identify the man have now released an e-fit of the person they would like to speak to in connection with the two incidents.

He is described as being a white man in his 60s, of a medium height and stocky build, with short grey hair. On both occasions he was wearing a blue top and black jeans and was carrying a rucksack. He spoke with a local accent.

Anybody who recognises the man or who has information about the incidents is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary.
