Cold weather is continuing to hit Gloucestershire this week. Temperatures are set to fall well below freezing tonight and light snow is forecast across the county.

The Met Office have said temperatures so far this week are at around 5-6 degrees Celsius lower than usual for this time of year.

An amber health warning of cold weather remains in place. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have said the NHS is likely to see increased demand on their services as cold weather can contribute to chest infections, strokes, and heart attacks.

Motorists are being urged to take caution in wintery conditions.

Vincent Crane, South West AA patrol, said: "We do see a lot more breakdowns over the winter months, the cold weather, the wet weather and the dark leads to a lot more incidents.

"Make sure your tyres look safe and legal, make sure your wiper blades are effectively cleaning your screen. It's always worth carry wet wipes to wipe your headlights off and wipe your number plate and taillights.

"Make sure you've got spare food supplies, blankets, and a torch in the car.

"And be aware vehicle reaction times may be hampered by the wet and cold weather."
