Gloucestershire County Council aim to re-surface 22 miles or road within this financial year, which would surpass their previous expectation by 15 miles.

If that target is achieved, it would stretch from Gloucester to the Scottish Borders. (As the crow flies)

Weather depending, there are still 21 roads which are scheduled to undergo a makeover.

They are:

  1. Gotherington Lane, Bishops Cleeve
  1. Bream Road, Lydney
  1. Yorkley Road, Parkend
  1. May Lane and Hill Road, Dursley
  1. Badsey Lane, Willersey – Section 1
  1. Newmarket Road, Nailsworth
  1. Swindon Street, Cheltenham
  1. Knapp Lane, Alvington
  1. High Street, South Cerney
  1. Sandtumps, Woolaston
  1. Cockleford, Cowley
  1. Squires Road, Upper Lydbrook
  1. Horton Road, Gloucester
  1. Brierly Banks, Ruardean
  1. Claypitts Lane, Thrupp
  1. Pleasant Stile, Littledean
  1. Climperwell Road, Brimpsfield
  1. Section of Northway Lane, Northway
  1. Innsworth Lane, Innsworth (phase 2)
  1. Frewins Lane, Upper Ley Westbury
  1. Parts of Arle Court Roundabout, Hatherley Lane, B4063, and A40 (as part of the West Cheltenham Transport Improvement Scheme) where the road has been widened. Further resurfacing will take place later in the spring.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said:

“Keeping our work on schedule during the pandemic has been challenging and I want to thank each and every one of our highways service staff for going above and beyond to keep Gloucestershire’s roads moving.

"They have worked extremely hard to catch up and exceeded our works programme, delivering the £150 million investment into your highways, and bringing a smoother ride for cyclists too.

“Residents and businesses affected by any of our resurfacing work will receive letters nearer the time with details of exactly what is happening and when, including how to get in touch with us.”
