Rail passengers in Gloucestershire are being told to prepare for delays and disruption following heavy rainfall.

Trains passing through Cheltenham Spa train station have been heavily disrupted due to flooding caused from intense rain over the weekend.

As a result, a number of services passing through Cheltenham Spa have been told to travel at reduced speeds.

On top of this, Great Western Railways and CrossCountry services going between Cheltenham Spa and Gloucester have been suspended entirely.

This suspension also extends to nearby towns including Tewkesbury and Ashchurch, due to the flooding at both stations.

Tickets that were passing through both stations were being accepted onto diverted services, as well as bus routes.

Great Western Railways went on to confirm that thanks to a break in the rain, lines have now been reopened.

Disruption to train services was expected to run throughout the afternoon, but the company said that major disruption will begin to ease from 2:30pm.
