A Gloucestershire born film creator has picked up a top award at last night's Oscars.

Tom Berkeley, from Gloucester, is one half of a directing duo that created An Irish Goodbye.

It picked up Best Live-Action Short Film, with Berkeley and his co-director, Ross White, using their acceptance speech to wish happy birthday to the film's star.

They led a chorus of Happy Birthday for the film's star James Martin from the stage.

The UK's tally of four Oscars is the lowest since 2017, when the country came away with just a single award. Last year the UK won six.

Everything Everwhere All At Once was the big winner, winner a total of seven awards. It was named best picture, while its star Michelle Yeoh's become the first Asian woman to take best actress.
