Police have been given extra time to question a man arrested on suspicion of murder in Gloucestershire.

A double murder investigation was launched yesterday (Wednesday 2 March) after the bodies of a man and a woman were found at two seperate locations.

Clive Warrington, 67, was found at a flat in Sherbourne Place in Cheltenham but died at the scene.

Valerie Warrington, 73, was found at a property on Whiteshoots Hill in Bourton-on-the-Water.

Both of the victims, who were once married but later divorced, had sustained stab wounds.

Detectives have been granted an extra 36 hours to question a man arrested yesterday near to the scene in Cheltenham.

Officers are asking anyone with information or any witnesses to come forward to help them with their investigation.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Supt Gosden, from the Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Local Policing Area, said:

"We are appealing for anyone who may have information which could assist us to please come forward.

"Understandably people will be shocked to hear that two lives have been lost in such a tragic way.

"Over the coming days, officers will be in the local communities to provide reassurance and we would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to us."
