Gloucestershire County Council has sincerely apologised, saying it 'should have done better' for a woman who was found in her own urine and faeces.

The woman, who has ME and other health conditions says her carers were given insufficient time to help her, which resulted in her being hospitalised twice.

She also says a lack of support for her partner led to a break down in their relationship.

An investigation by a Social Care Ombudsman found the local authority failed to provide appropriate care when her partner stopped being her carer.

The report also noted a lack of communication from the woman's social worker - despite being contacted for help.

The County Council says it has made progress to implementing recommendations and will pay her £2,050. It has also apologised to the woman's former partner.
