Gloucestershire charity heading to Buckingham Palace
A cancer care charity based in Gloucestershire will attend Buckingham Palace today.
A charity in Gloucestershire that provide mobile cancer care units to hospitals across the country are heading to Buckingham Palace.
Hope for Tomorrow’s work supported nearly 2000 cancer patients in Gloucestershire last year.
They’re attending a community reception hosted by His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen.
The charity works to bring cancer care closer to patients through their mobile units to help them save on travel and hospital-related costs.
The reception is being held in celebration of community-based cancer support initiatives raising awareness of the needs of cancer patients.
Members of the Hope for Tomorrow team, along with staff, supporters, volunteers, and partners of the charity have been invited by the Royal Family to attend.
Tina Seymour, CEO of Hope for Tomorrow said she wasn’t sure the invitation was real at first.
She told Greatest Hits Radio “I have to admit when it first came through I thought it was spam.
“I had an email from an address that I didn’t recognise with an attachment which looked strange.
“I had to do a bit of research before opening it and thinking actually, this is real.
This is a real invite to the palace.”
On the honour of being invited Tina said: “We are incredibly proud to be part of such a prestigious occasion.
“It follows our special event last year attended by HRH Prince Michael of Kent.
“Our recent royal recognition is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated team, who work tirelessly to ensure that our mobile cancer care and support services reach patients across the country.”
