Gloucestershire county council has approved a Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) to improve the county's bus network.

The plans set out a long term plan for public transport and include 58 new electric buses, more reliable and frequent services and improved information and marketing.

It's hoped bus users will experience faster journeys with less of an impact on the environment.

It will in part be funded by the UK Government's Department for Transport, who are set to fund millions of pounds for the network's redevelopment and electric vehicles.

The council hope this will encourage more people to use the bus and public transport, getting the council closer to net zero targets.

Councillor Philip Robinson said: “We want buses to be at the heart of an attractive, affordable and integrated transport system and our Bus Service Improvement Plan 2024 outlines this vision.

"We are committed to making bus services more reliable and appealing, as buses are a sustainable way to travel that will help us meet our carbon emission targets.”
