Matthew Cainey died after being stabbed at a house in Bedford Street
An image has been released of a man who was fatally stabbed in an incident in Gloucester last month.
Officers from Gloucestershire Police were alerted to an incident taking place at Bedford Street at 7:40am on May 28th.
When responders arrived at the scene, they found three men who had been seriously injured in the stabbing requiring immediate medical attention.
The three men were taken to hospital, but despite their best efforts, one 53-year-old man died at around midday that day.
Police have since named the victim as Matthew Cainey, who had lived in the Gloucester area, and have now released an image of him.
The family of Matthew are continuing to ask for privacy as investigations into the stabbing continue.
The two other victims involved in the attack have since been discharged from hospital for their injuries.
Officers later detained 39-year-old Kane Kotwica, from Longford, half an hour after the incident was first alerted.
He has since been charged with Cainey's murder, as well as two counts of attempted murder in connection with the attack.
Kotwica appeared in court on Monday (June 2nd) before being remanded into police custody.
A plea and pre-trial hearing will be held for the man on August 15th ahead of the official trial which is provisionally set for November 17th.
