A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Gloucester last month.

The boy, who legally cannot be named due to his age, has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday 16 October.

The charges relate to an incident on Cecil Road at around 2.15am on 23 September when a male stabbed another male in the leg and a second man sustained a slash wound.

They required hospital treatment and were later discharged.

Inspector Ash Gardner from the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Tackling knife crime is a priority for us, and offences will be dealt with robustly. These charges relating to a teenager show how seriously we are treating this issue.

"I would urge anybody with information in relation to knife crime to come forward and let us know, no matter how small or insignificant they believe it to be. This is not something we can tackle alone, it is a partnership effort, and the more we are told, the more we will be able to do to tackle this problem."
