Gloucester Car Boot Sale will return before July
A new lease has been agreed for the popular Hempsted event
It's hoped Gloucester's popular Car Boot Sale will begin operating again by early July.
A newly appointed company, Capital Boot Sales, has been awarded a lease for the Hempsted event by the City Council, who own the site.
The business had to submit an annual plan for the land management, how they'll meet planning conditions and provide public facilities, as well as details on marshalling, waste and site maintenance.
Capital have experience in running similar car boot events around the country, but this will be their first in Gloucestershire.
There are also plans to use the site for activities like live music, a drive-in cinema and outdoor fitness events.
A spokesperson for Gloucester City Council said: "We know people are very keen to see the car boot reopen and we’ve been working flat out to make that happen.
"We know that residents would expect us to do everything we can to ensure that the event is well run and makes full use of the site for the local community. We are delighted to be able to announce this development and welcome the planned return of this much-loved event."
