A unique film project that aims to address the national shortage of foster carers and find homes for children and young people has launched in Gloucestershire.
From the children and young people who are looked after by foster carers, to the foster care families who come forward to care for them.
Councillor Stephen Davies said: "While we already have many brilliant foster carers in Gloucestershire, the reality is we always need more families to open their homes and their hearts to children in need.
"This project is a brilliant way of working together in the production of a high-quality film that will be a real asset to the recruitment of new foster carers for Gloucestershire’s children."
The project was put together by fostering services across the country and was jointly funded by over 30 local councils and children’s trusts in England.
Councillor Davies also said he hopes the short film will reach many people across the UK and will show them the "many benefits" of fostering, including helping children and young people live in "safe, nurturing homes".
Tammy Wheatley, Head of Service for Permanence at Gloucestershire County Council added: "Out There is a beautifully poignant film that really captures many of the thoughts and emotions being felt today, particularly as many people have been reflecting about their life choices and the importance of community support during the pandemic.
"I think the film itself and the joint approach really demonstrates the benefits of collaborative working."
