Forest Green Rovers have revealed plans for their brand new football stadium and eco-park.

The club are submitting them to Stroud District Council today.

The vision is to create a new gateway to Stroud which showcases sustainability and delivers a new homeground for the club.

At the heart of the park is the world's first football stadium made entirely of wood which will combine FGR's training, fitness and fitness requirements into one location.

Surrounding is the Green Technology Cluster - buildings which hope to attract businesses from the zero-carbon economy who specialise in sustainable and green technologies.

It is estimated the site could generate approximately £2 million in additional business rates revenue for Stroud Council each year generating a total of 4,773 – 5,174 jobs including on- and off-site jobs.

The masterplan also includes a hotel to support both the stadium and Green Technology Cluster, as well as improve the tourism industry in the town.

The proposed Care Village hope to meet a need identified by Stroud District Council, whilst complementing the existing residential development adjacent to the site.

The use of this land will provide integration with the river, canal restoration works and surrounding landscape, as well as significant land proposed to boost biodiversity.

The park has been designed to promote sustainable transport measures to encourage accessibility of the site by walking, cycling, the use of personal electric vehicles and public transport.

The entire site also looks to take on a circular economy approach by maximising the recycling or reusing of materials and waste generated within the park.
