Residents in some parts of Gloucestershire woke up to continued 'Act Now' red flood warnings by the Environment Agency after another wet weekend.

In some parts of the West Country, the EA say the water tables are higher than usual - however, these flood alerts in Gloucestershire are as a result of high spring tides.

Officials say they are 'closely monitoring' the situation - with the river gauges going up as a result of high spring tides coinciding with high river levels.

Gloucester

The EA say the high spring tides mean flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible in parts of Gloucester.

It's expected flooding will impact Coal Wharf and Riverside, Maisemore, low lying areas on Base Lane, Sandhurst.

They add Sandhurst lane will be just passable, but the A417 at Maisemore may be closed due to flooding.

The predicted peaks of the river:

  • Sunday 07/04/24:- Gloucester 3.5m to 3.6m at 21:30. Sandhurst 3.7m to 3.8m at 21:30
  • Monday 08/04/24:- Gloucester 3.7m to 3.9m at 09:45. Sandhurst 3.8m to 4.0m at 10:00

Tewkesbury

Because of heavy rain in recent days, we're told river levels continue to rise in Tewkesbury - with predicted peaks on the River Severn between 3.5 metres and 3.7 metres.

They say the rain means the levels at the Mythe Bridge river gauge continue to rise, with flooding of property, roads and farmland possible.

The EA say they expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Severn Ham.

Predicted peaks

  • Mythe 3.6m to 3.8m Monday afternoon 08/04/24
  • Upper Pound 3.5m to 3.7m Monday afternoon 08/04/24

They add further rainfall is forecast and we expect river levels to remain high this week.

You are urged to avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
