A fifteen year old boy has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a serious assault of another teenage boy in Cheltenham on Tuesday.

It is alleged the victim was assaulted with a bottle in Cheltenham Minster churchyard which left him with serious injuries.

The fifteen year old will appear at Bristol Crown Court on Monday 13 September. He cannot be named for legal reasons.

A 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy who were also arrested in connection with the incident have since been released on bail until the beginning of October.

The injured teenager has been discharged from hospital and is recovering.
