An 18-year-old man has died after his car was involved in a collision last night on the A40 Golden Valley Bypass.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 11pm yesterday after they received reports of a BMW Series 1 colliding with a stationary heavy goods vehicle parked in a layby.

The incident happened on the east bound carriageway between A417 (Elmbridge Court roundabout, Gloucester) and the M5 junction 11 (Cheltenham).

Emergency services reported that the single occupant of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the stationary truck also sustained minor injuries.

Currently, there are road closures remain in place in both directions.
