A drug dealer's been jailed for five years, after cocaine was found in his car by police on patrol in Stroud.

45 year old Nicholas Geenty, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court.

He admitted possession with intent to supply cocaine, and possession of cannabis.

Geenty was searched by officers in the Paganhill area of Stroud in December last year.

His car was seen parked on Matthews Way, and as an officer approached on foot, Geenty drove away at speed.

When a road closure forced him to stop, police found a quantity of white powder in individual bags - which was cocaine, with a street value of £3,000.

Bags of cocaine were found in Geenty's car, while he was out of prison on licence

Cannabis, drug paraphernalia including scales, and a burner phone were also discovered.

PC Kerr from the Neighbourhood Support Team said: "Geenty is rightfully behind bars after showing a blatant disregard for his licence conditions.

"The action taken by our officers reflects their dedication in responding to community intelligence and we will continue in our efforts to disrupt the illegal supply of drugs in order to keep the public safe."

We're asked to contact Gloucestershire Police with any reports of suspected drug activity, by calling 101 or using the force website.

Anonymous reports can also be passed on to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
