Police are appealing for witnesses after a dog sustained serious injuries after being attacked by another dog in Cheltenham last month.

It was reported that on Wednesday 6 November at around 7.20am, a man was walking his Shih Tzu on Shakespeare Road between the junction of Kipling Road and Goldsmith Road.

They were approached by two men who had a Pit Bull-type dog with them which was off lead. The dog then approached the man’s Shih Tzu and attacked it.

As the man made attempts to pull his dog away, one of the men then threatened him.

The dog who was attacked required emergency surgery for serious wounds to its stomach and is now recovering.

Police have conducted house-to-house and CCTV enquiries in the area and are now appealing for the public to help identify the men and the dog.

One of the men is described as wearing a blue top and shorts and both men were holding a can of beer.

It is believed a number of people may have been in the vicinity at the time of the incident and officers would now like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or recognises the description of the men or dog.
