Young care leavers in Gloucestershire are set to benefit from a new day centre.

Trevone House will help them as they leave care and learn the skills to live independently whilst receiving specialist support.

The service also hopes to reduce the number of young people coming into the care system and move them straight into independent accommodation.

Young people will also be able to develop their social skills, focus on their well-being and gain accredited qualifications.

Cabinet approval would allow around £2.2 million of funding over a six-year period for a contract with a Day Service provider.

Gloucestershire County Council's Cabinet will go over the proposal during its meeting on Wednesday, 10th November.

Councillor Stephen Davies said: "I am delighted that we will be able to offer further support to our young people at Trevone House.

"A Day Centre service will help young people to progress, with a curriculum designed to aid the development of their independence.

"Gloucestershire is leading the way in its support for care leavers with Trevone House, and I am proud that we are continuing to invest in the facility."
