A teenager is in hospital following reports of a stabbing in South Gloucestershire.

It happened in the underpass between The Mall, and The Venue, near Cribbs Causeway shortly after 5.50pm last night (Monday 27 May).

Another boy - aged 16 - was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing a bladed article.

He remains in police custody.

Members of the public gave first aid at the scene before the victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Another boy, also 16, later handed himself and also remains in custody following his arrest on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police have recovered the weapon and do not believe there is any wider risk to the public. However, uniformed officers will be carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.

The injured person and the suspect were part of a larger group of young people who ran from the scene.

Police are keen to identify others involved and get in contact with any witnesses.
