Councillor Tracy Millard for the Coney Hill ward says her thoughts are with the community affected by a suspected shooting.

Millard said: “My thought goes with the local residents in that area and the families of the potential individual that’s been impacted by this.”

She assured the community that she will be doing everything she can to make sure that the incident is resolved as quickly as possible.

“My thoughts go out to the local community; it is going to be a very worrying time for them”.

Police were called to the scene at 9pm on Saturday evening to reports of a man in his 40’s sustaining a suspected gunshot wound.

A woman was also injured in the incident but has been discharged from hospital.

Police are still on the hunt for three suspects who are reported to have travelled to the location on two motorbikes.

They are appealing for any witnesses who can aid them in their investigations.

Detective Inspector Paula Hannaford said: "It is really concerning that a firearm has been discharged on our streets and two people have been injured. This level of violent crime will understandably cause concern within our communities, and it will not be tolerated.

"We're doing everything we can to identify those responsible and we’re asking for any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

"Witness statements have been taken and we are in the process of reviewing CCTV footage, however, we are still keen to hear from anyone with information about those involved.

"There will be an enhanced police presence in the area while our enquiries continue, with extra patrols taking place."
