A Gloucestershire market town is hoping to host a Christmas market next month.

The Christmas festival has been taking place in Winchcombe for eight years but no street trading consent application has been made previously by the organisers.

Philip Parker has applied to Tewkesbury Borough Council for a street trading consent for the Winchcombe Christmas Festival which is due to take place on December 6.

Their plans are for stalls to be able to sell arts and crafts, clothing, chocolates, and other gifts along with hot and cold food from 5pm to 8pm.

The event came to the attention of the council’s licensing team after enquiries were made for a temporary event notice.

Gloucestershire County Council highways has authorised the use of the roads and police have also been informed about the event.

The organiser said they will ensure that all vendors have access to handwashing facilities and ask for proof of food registration before the event starts.

Councillors are due to consider the licence application at a meeting on November 8.
