Cotswold District Council have introduced a new data tool, the Low-Income Family Tracker (LIFT), to help target support to households struggling financially.

The tool is set to enhance the council’s ability to identify vulnerabilities of low-income households and help them target resources to those in need.

Many families across the Cotswolds will be struggling due to the current cost of living crisis and will be eligible for financial help that they might not be aware of.

Cabinet member for communities and cost of living Claire Bloomer said; “Theres lots of unclaimed benefits across the district and that might just be because people don’t realise they’ve got it”

“This programme along with our own data is able to highlight those people that may not of claimed which might just make their lives a lot easier”.

How LIFT Works

The platform will compile data from the Council’s existing records and cross-references it with publicly available information.

It can track changes over time, identify risk factors, and provide a detailed picture of household needs across the district.

The say the information will allow them to design effective campaigns and allocate resources where they are needed most.

Some of the support that residents identified can expect is notices of eligibility for benefits and help with their council tax.

They will also help with programmes for access to healthy eating and free school meals for children.

Claire Bloomer, said: “This is about creating a sustainable support network for our residents. By maximising incomes and providing targeted interventions, we can reduce the pressures faced by households and build a stronger, more resilient community.”
