The upper dentures worn by the former Prime Minister in many of his most famous speeches will be up for auction in Cheltenham.

They were made especially for Winston Churchill to preserve his natural lisp.

The Cotswold Auction Company said they have had a lot of interest in the teeth and are expecting them to sell for up to £8000.

Liz Poole, Director Auctioneer there, said: "They're a set of dentures with six teeth on them. He always carried two sets with him in case one broke because they were made to preserve his natural lisp when he was talking."

"Lots of people are asking about them. People collect specific memorabilia connected to Churchill so I think there will be a lot of interest."

A microphone Churchill spoke into on VE day is also up for auction.

Both items go under the hammer on February 8.
