Waste and recycling collections have been suspended again in Cheltenham because of the weather.

The council says conditions will be assessed again early tomorrow morning.

Residents are asked to put their recycling boxes, food caddies and bins out on their normal scheduled collection day and leave them out

As soon as conditions are safe enough collection crews will collect all waste and recycling .

In a statement, Cheltenham Borough Council said: "Street cleansing crews have prioritised clearing snow and ice within the town centre and high foot fall areas in the borough.

"The entrances to all town centre car parks as well as the pay points were also treated with salt.

"Street cleansing crews will be continuing this today to make car park access easier for visitors.

"Public toilets are open at present but are likely to close earlier than normal again today.

"Waste and recycling staff ‘bank’ hours not worked when conditions stop collections and use this time to work later to ensure all collections are caught up and are therefore not deployed to clear snow and ice which street cleansing staff are redeployed to do."
