Cheltenham Town are set to take on Leicester City in a highly anticipated FA Cup third-round clash at Whaddon Road.

Cheltenham will be facing a strong Championship side and are aiming to progress further in a competition that has often seen the Robins struggle in recent years.

Chair of the Robins Trust, Jaimie Henderson says the match will be “a massive challenge” and added that beating them would be “a giant killing” with their opponents winning the Premier League and FA Cup in the past 10 years.

The team’s manager Steve Cottrell returned in 2025 and has been described by Jaimie as a transformative leadership, he said Cottrell “turned the club around from the direction we were going in.”

Jaimie added that Cottrell’s deep understanding of the club and tactical expertise brings hope for the team in such a significant match, stressing that “players play for him” and are inspired to give their best under his guidance.

The fixture is set to be played in front of a sold-out crowd, with more than 7,000 tickets snapped up.

Fans attending are being urged to maintain enthusiasm regardless of how the game unfolds with Jaimie saying, “We haven’t been in the third round for five years.

“It should be a celebration.”

Cheltenham Town’s third-round tie against Leicester City will take place at 12:15pm.

Fans attending are advised to dress warmly due to expected cold and blustery weather.
