Cheltenham Town promoted as champions from League Two - Forest Green Rovers will hope to join them
History was made once again
Last updated 8th May 2021
Cheltenham Town are champions of League Two, their first title as a side in the English Football League.
Cheltenham secured a piece of club history on their own terms by coming-from-behind to beat Harrogate 4 - 1 at Whaddon Road.
Goals from Liam Sercombe, Sam Smith, Alfie May and Callum Wright ensured the League Two trophy would be lifted in Gloucestershire
It’s the second piece of club history created by this team, after becoming the first Cheltenham side in history to promoted automatically in the English Football League.
Remarkably, even before this season manager Michael Duff was a player for Cheltenham when they were promoted to the EFL for the first time in 1999.
The next date for Cheltenham Town fans to look forward to is Thursday, June 24 at 09:00 where the League One fixtures will be revealed.
Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich Town and Wigan Athletic are some of the notable teams in the division.
It is still not clear how many, if at all, supporters will be allowed to go through the Whaddon Road turnstiles.
Elsewhere in Gloucestershire, Forest Green Rovers will hope to join them in League One next season.
They secured a place in the League Two play off places with a comprehensive 3 - 0 win against Oldham Athletic.
Forest Green Rovers will face Newport County in the play off semi final.
